FIRE is the ultimate stick from Mercian, top of the M-TEK range. It includes all the performance characteristics of the Lava with important and innovative improvement. Some players want a stick to feel stiff. However, some players want to protect themselves from the vibrations that can occur in a super stiff stick. The innovative material in the FIRE dampens the vibrations, making a stiff stick that gives maximum energy transfer and yet has the associated "touch" and "feel" of a mid-specification composite. This results in a greater cushioning on receiving the ball.

Patented by Head in tennis, Mercian have a patent pending on the use of PISO-ELECTRIC fibres within this hockey stick. These fibres are an active molecule material. The vibrations from hitting and receiving the ball move up the shaft until they hit the PISO-ELECTRIC fibres. This causes the molecules to vibrate, changing the energy of the vibrations into electricity and, in this case, heat. If a player were to hit a ball constantly for 24 hours, the area containing the fibres would heat up, but the quantity of energy converted is so low it does not create any immediate noticeable effect. If a stick was made with full shaft of PISO-ELECTRIC fibre and connected to an electric circuit, a small bulb could be lit with the energy created!
